Well folks, here we are at the end
of another shooting year. The animals have been put to bed for the
winter; we can oil up our leverguns and put them in the closet til
spring; get out the melting pot and cast up next year's bullets, then
kick back and watch old man winter do his thing hopefully from the
warmer side of the windows. It was certainly good seeing you all. Hope
everyone enjoyed their day shooting steel. Beth and I really enjoy all
the camaraderie and the friends we've made in the last 7 years. I want
to remind everyone how much we appreciate everyone and the things you do
for us and each other. This is what really makes us want to keep doing
what we do- for you. We couldn't do it without your help!
I've been asked by Pat Hovey to offer thanks from her and
the Hovey family for the outpouring of love and respect shown at the
memorial service last Saturday. There were over 140 friends and family
sharing their remembrances of our fallen hero, Jim. The kind and
generous donations received at the service will be donated to Midland
Hospice in Jim's name. Pat has said there could not have been a better
recognition for Jim and his contribution to the shooting community than
what she witnessed that Saturday morning from his friends and family.
There was a very respectable turn-out at the matches with
26 competitors ranging in ages from 10 to 80. Yeah- Bill (Higgs), I know
you still have a couple months- but whats a couple months compared to 79
years! We welcomed a new youngster to our game- Zack Burns. Hope he had
enough fun to come back next year. The magic animal this month was the
chicken with Charlie Miles, Mark Jones, Rodney Sothers and Kerry Moore
each getting their $5.00 rebate. Way to go guys!
This last match ended with a "shoot-off" for match winner
between Jim Luke and Kerry Moore at the Turkey line on the big bore
range. In a sudden death duel Jim ended up the winner. Good shooting-
both of you!
