Cowboy Silhouette
Beginning May 2004, the Capital City Cowboys will shoot NRA Approved Cowboy Silhouette. See the schedule below. Entry fee each month is $10.00 for the first category and $5.00 for additional categories.

Shooters will need to be at the range at 8:30 am for the shooters meeting. Shooting will start at 9:30 am.

Some of the shooting dates are not on the 2nd Saturday of the month. We had some scheduling conflicts with other shooting disciplines-but no shots were fired in anger. Please mark your calendars, get your guns and ammo ready and join us for lots of fun.

LAST SUNDAY OF THE MONTH

The month of May was a much kinder month to us steel slammers with temperatures from the mid 40's to lower 60's with just enough wind to make it challenging. A few more of our regular shooters were able to make it and we were able to see how they had survived the long winter. No one seemed the worse for wear and the scores reflected that. There were a total of 25 competitors for the smallbore and pistol caliber matches and 16 for the bigbore rifle event. This month we experimented with the color of some of the animals to determine if white or black was more visible with the morning light. I guess this is where I ask the folks who were there to give me some feedback on which color worked better. With that feedback maybe we could paint one side of the animals white and leave the other side black and choose the appropriate color for each month. Methinks there's a painting party in the near future. As usual, I thank everyone for their help in setting up and tearing down. It made a long day quite a bit shorter.

I also invite anyone with questions about the classification changes to check with me. There have been some changes in the NRA classification scores this year.
